About this plugin
The bx_rockergain100 is Brainworx's component-level emulation of the Orange Rockerverb, a high-gain tube amp that fundamentally shifted British amp design toward modern saturation when it launched in the early 2010s. Unlike earlier Orange models known for chimey cleans and moderate crunch, the Rockerverb introduced aggressive gain staging and tight low-end response to the company's signature aesthetic, making it an industry standard for contemporary metal and hard rock production.
Brainworx's modeling captures the amp's dual-channel architecture with fidelity across both the relatively articulate clean channel and the heavily saturated dirty channel. The plugin emphasizes accurate gain staging and frequency response, which matters considerably when stacking this amp with modern production techniques. The 120 included impulse responses, recorded through various vintage and modern signal chains on Neve console equipment, function as legitimate alternatives to traditional cab simulation rather than cosmetic afterthoughts.

Beyond the core amp model, the plugin includes a functional effects rack with syncable lo-fi delay, noise gate, and parametric filtering - tools that address the practical reality of digital amp modeling rather than adding unnecessary complexity. Power soak and power amp bypass options allow engineers to shape how the saturation develops across the frequency spectrum, a crucial consideration when working with sources beyond guitar or when retrofitting the amp into existing mixes.
The bx_rockergain100 serves engineers seeking heavy, articulate saturation without the physical constraints of tube amp maintenance or volume limitations. It's most useful in metal and hard rock contexts where the amp's original application lies, though its tight low-end and sophisticated gain structure reward experimentation across genres where aggressive tonal coloration enhances rather than overwhelms.
