About this plugin
Bogren Digital's 100 Years of Beyerdynamic IR pack represents a rare convergence of historical documentation and practical studio utility. Spanning 235 impulse responses captured across a century of Beyerdynamic microphone design, this collection functions as both a sonic archive and a functional tool for modern guitar production.
The pack divides into three distinct categories. The 32 producer IRs deliver mix-ready character crafted by Kristian Kohle and Jens Bogren, suitable for immediate deployment in tracking or mixing sessions. The 118 technical IRs showcase individual microphones positioned at up to 13 discrete locations in front of a 2002 Celestion V30, enabling granular tone-shaping through mic blending and combination. The 85 historic IRs capture Beyerdynamic's archival pieces, ranging from 1930s dynamic models to 1960s ribbon designs.

This approach yields genuine sonic diversity. Vintage ribbon microphones impart the characteristic smoothness associated with classic console aesthetics, while early dynamic designs introduce aggression and presence that modern microphones often smooth away. The technical capture methodology grants producers unprecedented control, transforming the plugin from a simple convolution tool into a comprehensive microphone selection and positioning system.
For engineers and producers accustomed to Bogren Digital's established quality standards, this pack justifies its scope. Tracking guitarists will find immediate utility in the producer IRs, while mixing engineers benefit from the technical captures' flexibility. The historic microphones offer character unlikely to appear in competing IR libraries, making this collection valuable primarily for users seeking distinctive tonal signatures rather than conventional studio approximations. It functions best as a supplementary resource within a broader impulse response collection rather than a standalone solution.
