About this plugin
BFD's Americana Sticks expansion delivers stick-struck samples from a 1960s Gretsch USA Custom kit, offering producers access to a tonally distinct alternative within the BFD Player ecosystem. The kit emphasizes woody midrange and reduced sustain compared to typical studio-recorded drums, capturing the character of vintage recording techniques and player touch that defined country, Americana, and classic rock production.
The sonic signature centers on the included 20x14" kick, which exhibits moderate attack and natural decay ideal for genres requiring definition without aggressive thump. The tom sequence - comprising 13x9" high, 12x8" mid, and 16x16" floor toms - provides articulate stick definition and pitch separation suitable for dynamic fills. The 14x5" snare balances crack with body, avoiding excessive brightness. Complementing hardware is a 21" Zildjian A-Custom ride, 20" A-Custom crash, 14" Sabian AA hihat, and 19" K Dark crash, which collectively establish a slightly duller, ride-forward cymbal palette than contemporary alternatives.

This expansion suits producers working within Americana, neo-folk, alt-country, and vintage rock contexts where drum authenticity matters. The kit's restraint makes it equally valuable for engineered acoustic sessions requiring integrated percussion without sonic dominance.
Among competing stick-based drum expansions, Americana Sticks occupies a narrow but purposeful niche. Its tonal character proves more specific than generalist offerings, trading versatility for conviction. Implementation within BFD Player ensures seamless workflow integration and extensive customization options for processing and layering.
