About this plugin
IHNY-2 represents a significant refinement of Baby Audio's foundational parallel compression tool, delivering the aggressive, slamming character producers demand without the routing complexity that typically accompanies such workflows. Rather than forcing users to manually configure parallel chains within their DAW, the plugin handles internal signal splitting, presenting a streamlined interface for blending dry and heavily compressed material.
The sonic philosophy here is unambiguous: IHNY-2 prioritizes impact and energy density over subtlety. Its parallel architecture allows substantial compression ratios on the wet signal while the uncolored dry path preserves transient definition and natural dynamics. An XY control scheme manages the critical balance between these elements horizontally, while dry/wet blend operates on the vertical axis, enabling swift tonal shaping through intuitive gestural control.

The V2 upgrade adds meaningful refinements to the original I Heart NY formula. An autogain algorithm manages level compensation across the wet signal chain, and the plugin includes expanded parameter access for more surgical intervention when needed. The sound remains engineered specifically for contemporary production demands - particularly effective on drum tracks, submixes, and full mixes where perceived loudness and punch matter without sacrificing perceived dimension.
This tool occupies a distinct niche among compressor plugins. It's not designed for transparent dynamics management; it's a deliberately aggressive coloration device. Engineers seeking transparent gain reduction elsewhere will find limited utility here. But for producers and mixing engineers working in genres where assertive compression is fundamental to the aesthetic - hip-hop, electronic, pop, and rock included - IHNY-2 delivers measurably harder results than conventional approaches.
