About this plugin
Audiority's Dark Memory is a meticulously modeled emulation of the Electro-Harmonix Memory Man EH7810, the budget-conscious sibling of one of the most influential delay pedals ever designed. Rather than chasing pristine fidelity, the plugin embraces the sonic limitations that defined the original's character - specifically, the underclocked 1024-stage BBD chip that compressed the frequency response and imparted a distinctly murky, lo-fi texture to delayed signals.
The core delay engine captures this authentic bandwidth reduction, with maximum delay times reaching 310 milliseconds in stock configuration. For those seeking extended delay durations, the included Delay Extension swaps the MN3005 emulation for a 4096-stage equivalent, stretching times to four seconds while naturally darkening the tone further.

Beyond strict emulation, Audiority adds practical studio features: tempo sync keeps delays locked to session tempo, stereo mode implements 180-degree phase cancellation between channels for impressionistic widening effects, and modulation parameters introduce subtle movement reminiscent of analog tape flutter. The ducking control allows delay to recede when the source signal peaks, preventing buildup - useful in dense mixes.
The Dark Memory suits producers and engineers seeking vintage character without the maintenance demands of hardware. It's particularly valuable in genres where degraded, atmospheric delays enhance rather than compromise the mix: indie rock, trip-hop, ambient work, and experimental production all benefit from its characterful tonal coloration. For those prioritizing pristine delay, cleaner alternatives exist; here, the artifacts are the appeal.
