About this plugin
Selene represents Auburn Sounds' approach to algorithmic reverb design, prioritizing sonic clarity and mix integration over the CPU-heavy convolution or plate emulation models. The engine generates spatial environments through adaptive processing that responds intelligently to source material, which explains its reputation for remaining present without dominating a mix.
The plugin's character derives from several deliberate technical choices. The Vintage knob provides tonal coloration reminiscent of classic hardware reverbs, while the Diffusion parameter allows you to dial between sparse, crystalline reflections and dense, plate-like characteristics. A Drive control adds harmonic saturation, and the visual low and high-shelf post-EQ give you straightforward spectral shaping without menu diving. The 8-band Damping EQ offers surgical control over frequency-dependent decay characteristics, essential for taming problematic resonances in vocal and instrument reverbs.

Selene includes thoughtful workflow features. The Internal Duck automatically manages dynamics between dry and wet signals, while the Gate prevents tail noise. Freeze mode captures infinite sustain for ambient textures or swells. A dedicated Mix section provides extensive wet/dry control, and the Shimmer effect offers four distinct algorithms for adding ethereal top-end complexity.
The 64-bit double precision processing path and 2x oversampling ensure technical competence, though the plugin's real strength lies in subjective character. Selene suits engineers seeking sophisticated reverb that shapes rather than drowns a mix, particularly useful on vocals, drums, and orchestral material where definition matters.
