About this plugin
Prophet-5 V is Arturia's software emulation of the legendary sequential Circuits Prophet-5 synthesizer, specifically modeled after the Rev 2 hardware iteration. Built on Arturia's TAE (True Analog Emulation) engine, the plugin delivers component-level modeling of the original's signal path, capturing the harmonic character and subtle nonlinearities that define its sound.
The synth excels at lush, characterful pads and aggressive bass synthesis. Its five-voice polyphony with genuine voice dispersion ( each voice subtly detuned to replicate analog unit variation ) creates the signature thick, slightly imperfect warmth that makes Prophet-5 sounds instantly recognizable in professional recordings. The Poly-Mod feature - allowing modulation of one oscillator by another across the entire voice - remains central to its sonic palette, enabling complex evolving textures and metallic bell tones.

Arturia has enhanced the original architecture with modern conveniences: multimode filter saturation, expanded modulation destinations, contemporary reverb and delay effects, and a search-friendly preset library. The interface mirrors the hardware's straightforward layout, making it accessible for newcomers while providing experienced synthesists with direct parameter access.
Prophet-5 V suits producers across electronic music, hip-hop, R&B, and film composition who value immediate sonic gratification without deep menu diving. It's particularly effective for lead synths, atmospheric pads, and subtractive bass work. While not a deep sound-design instrument like modular tools, it prioritizes musicality and commercial viability. Among Prophet-5 emulations, it remains the most authoritative representation of the hardware, backed by decades of hardware experience and genuine component modeling.
