About this plugin
Arturia's Chorus DIMENSION-D is a meticulously modeled emulation of the Roland Dimension D, the legendary spatial processor that defined chorus character for decades. Rather than a traditional modulation effect, the Dimension D operates as a sonic widener and enhancer, using bucket-brigade device circuitry to add warmth, subtle compression, and stereo expansion to source material. The plugin captures this behavior through component-level modeling, delivering the characteristic BBD saturation and delicate filtering that made the original indispensable in professional studios.
The interface prioritizes speed over tweaking, offering four-button operation for accessing different rate and depth combinations without menu navigation. For those seeking deeper control, advanced parameters allow adjustment of LFO shape, BBD compression characteristics, and stereo width beyond the original unit's specifications. This balance between immediacy and customization serves both quick mixing decisions and detailed sound design work.

Sonically, DIMENSION-D excels on vocals, keyboards, and guitars, where its gentle pitch modulation and widening effect enhance presence and space without obvious artifacting. The effect enhances rather than transforms, making it suitable for sources that benefit from subtle enrichment rather than dramatic processing. Engineers accustomed to the original hardware will recognize the sonic signature; those unfamiliar with classic Dimension D character will find a genuinely useful stereo enhancement tool that occupies an understated middle ground between transparent widening and saturated modulation.
DIMENSION-D remains essential for producers prioritizing vintage-style spatial enhancement and warm analog character in modern mixing contexts.
