About this plugin
The Antelope Audio Filtek MK3 is a faithful plugin recreation of a legendary broadcast-standard equalizer that defined the sound of professional radio and recording studios since the 1970s. Originally engineered by the IRT (Institut für Rundfunk Technik) to meet stringent German broadcast specifications, this three-band design brings authentic transformer-based I/O coloration to modern DAWs while maintaining surgical precision across its frequency range.
The core architecture centers on three parametric bands, each offering 12 selectable frequencies with stepped gain control up to plus or minus 16 dB. The Q-switch on each band provides three positions: narrow, medium, and bypass, giving you considerable flexibility in how aggressively or gently you shape each frequency region. High and low-pass filters extend the toolset for more comprehensive tone management.

What sets the Filtek MK3 apart is its parallel EQ signal path, which allows you to blend the dry signal with processed versions, enabling creative tone-shaping possibilities beyond traditional EQ work. This approach prevents the harshness that can emerge from aggressive peaking, a characteristic that explains its enduring presence in top-tier studios.
The plugin excels equally at corrective work and creative enhancement. Its stepped gain increments encourage deliberate, audible adjustments rather than pixel-pushing, while the transformer modeling imparts subtle harmonic character that warms digital sources without obvious coloration. The Filtek MK3 suits mix engineers seeking transparent yet characterful EQ, as well as tracking specialists looking to shape sources with both precision and analog musicality.
