About this plugin
Ample Sound's Ample Guitar L provides a detailed virtual implementation of the Alhambra Luthier classical guitar, a respected instrument known for its balanced tonal response and responsive dynamics. The library captures both fingerstyle and picked articulations across the instrument's range, delivering the clarity and sustain characteristic of quality nylon strings without the phase artifacts that plague some convolution-based approaches.
Version 4 introduces meaningful workflow improvements centered on the Riffer 4 editor and a redesigned strumming engine. The Strum Note system treats chords as unified objects, allowing single-point control over timing, velocity curves, and legato behavior across multiple voices. The dual Piano Roll and Guitar Tab view modes provide practical flexibility, particularly for engineers unfamiliar with traditional guitar notation. The string visualization layer within the Piano Roll enforces single-string polyphony rules and suggests authentic fingering patterns, which measurably improves realism in algorithmic composition.

Ample Guitar L suits producers working in classical, flamenco, and singer-songwriter contexts who require instrument authenticity without extensive manual programming. The advanced legato and articulation controls allow fine-grained expression shaping. However, the plugin demands more deliberate MIDI work than sample-based alternatives; users expecting immediate realistic results from loose MIDI data may find the learning curve steep.
Against competitors like Native Instruments Strummed Acoustic or Kontakt-based solutions, Ample Guitar L prioritizes technical accuracy over ease of use. Its strength lies in rewarding detailed editing rather than providing quick-fix strumming presets. The result justifies the investment for serious classical and fingerstyle work.
