About this plugin
Motto Akemie brings the distinctive character of ALM/Busy Circuits' celebrated Akemie's Taiko eurorack module into plugin form as a six-voice FM drum synthesizer with integrated step sequencer. Each voice operates as a dual-operator FM engine based on the original hardware, capable of generating the module's signature palette: from pure sine tones through metallic clangors to heavily self-modulated noise textures with chaotic harmonic content.
The plugin's architecture centers on per-voice step sequencing with independent pattern length and playback speed, enabling rapid polyrhythmic construction without menu diving. Step-level parameter modulation across all controls - pitch, feedback, envelope characteristics, and operator ratios - allows fine-grained timbral evolution within sequences. The 16 pattern banks provide practical workflow structure, while randomization and clear functions support both exploratory sound design and quick reset cycles.

Technical implementation includes multi-channel DAW output routing, full parameter automation, and MIDI control across separate channels per voice. MTS-ESP microtuning support extends tonal possibilities beyond Western equal temperament. Voices can also be played chromatically in real-time, positioning the tool as both rhythmic pattern generator and pitched instrument.
Motto Akemie suits producers and sound designers seeking unconventional drum and percussion textures, particularly those familiar with modular synthesis or seeking alternatives to conventional drum machines. Its FM-centric approach differentiates it from sample-based or subtractive drum plugins, occupying a specialized but genuinely useful niche. The combination of sequencing immediacy and sonic character makes it valuable for experimental electronic music, contemporary classical work, and producers prioritizing distinctive drum voices over comprehensive drum kits.
