About this plugin
XLN Audio's Modern Jazz Sticks ADpak delivers an authentically voiced acoustic drum kit specifically designed for contemporary jazz production. Built around a Premier Gen-X shell set paired with a Ludwig Acrolite snare, the kit captures the tonal characteristics essential to modern jazz: articulate attack, controlled sustain, and harmonic balance that cuts through ensemble arrangements without dominating the mix.
The sonic signature reflects careful tuning choices that distinguish this kit from general-purpose jazz libraries. The 18x14" kick provides definition without excessive body, while the four-piece tom configuration spans a focused pitch range suited to tight, responsive fills. The Ludwig Acrolite snare, historically associated with studio jazz standards, delivers the crisp, controlled crack that defines the idiom. Cymbal selection across Meinl, Paiste, and Sabian products - including HHX Groove hats, Byzance crashes, and a Mellow Crash - ensures sophisticated harmonic color without brightness that would clash with saxophone or trumpet.

The ADpak functions within Addictive Drums 2's intuitive interface, allowing rapid preset adjustments and detailed customization for experienced engineers. Production-ready presets accelerate workflow while maintaining sufficient control for refinement. This tool suits producers and engineers working in contemporary jazz contexts, from trio recordings to larger ensemble projects where drum tone directly influences overall character.
Compared to broader drum libraries, the Modern Jazz Sticks ADpak's laser focus on stick-played jazz aesthetics - rather than brush alternatives - positions it for sessions where articulation and presence are priorities. Its technical execution avoids the generic character typical of multi-genre drum plugins.
