About this plugin
Wavesfactory's Boomwhackers delivers a meticulously sampled collection of tuned percussion tubes, capturing three octaves of the instrument from C2 to C5 struck against a rubber surface. The library comprises 549 samples organized across five velocity layers and five round-robin variations per note, eliminating the repetitive quality that plagues lesser percussion libraries. Recorded in a controlled studio environment using professional-grade microphones, preamps, and converters, the samples maintain clarity without excessive processing artifacts.
The plugin requires the full Kontakt 5.7.3 or above, positioning it within Native Instruments' ecosystem rather than functioning as a standalone instrument. This architecture choice ensures deep integration with existing Kontakt workflows while limiting functionality to demo mode within the free Kontakt Player.

Beyond sample playback, Wavesfactory includes a sophisticated effects engine with eight slots accommodating EQ, compression, modulation, distortion, reverb with 40+ impulse responses, and amp simulation. The settings architecture provides meaningful control over round-robin cycling, dynamic range, velocity curves, stereo spread, sample start offset, and envelope shaping. These parameters allow producers to tailor the boomwhacker character from bright and articulate to dense and sustained.
The instrument appeals primarily to composers seeking authentic percussion textures for orchestral, educational, or experimental contexts. Its compact 129.5MB footprint and straightforward interface make it suitable for both seasoned sound designers and musicians exploring rhythmic layering. While specialized in scope, Boomwhackers represents a thorough, technically competent approach to a niche instrument category.
