About this plugin
Waves' Vitamin Sonic Enhancer addresses a genuine gap in mixing workflows by providing surgical enhancement across five independently adjustable frequency bands. Rather than functioning as a traditional EQ, it combines parallel processing, multiband saturation, and dynamics in a unified interface designed for rapid, audible results without the CPU overhead of building equivalent parallel chains.
The plugin's architecture centers on harmonic enrichment through controlled distortion and compression applied to isolated frequency regions. Users can adjust crossover points between bands, control stereo width per frequency area, and deploy a punch control that shapes transient character across the spectrum. This multiband approach allows for precise detail enhancement - bringing presence to vocal intelligibility in the 2-4kHz region while adding weight to bass without muddying midrange density.

The sonic character leans toward clarity and definition rather than coloration. Vitamin works effectively on individual tracks where targeted enhancement prevents mix buildup, though many engineers report equally compelling results on buses and masters when restraint guides the hand. The blend control permits parallel mixing within the plugin itself, useful for preserving source character while layering enhancement.
Vitamin occupies practical middle ground between simple EQ and complex multiband compression chains. It suits mixing engineers seeking faster workflow without sacrificing detail work, and mastering engineers requiring transparent yet audible enhancement. While not groundbreaking technically, its execution and interface merit consideration alongside established multiband processors from competitors like FabFilter and iZotope.
