About this plugin
Waves' Signature Series Vocals bundles four distinct vocal processing chains designed by studio engineers whose work spans multiple decades and genres. Each plugin targets a specific sonic aesthetic: CLA Vocals applies the contemporary pop and rock sensibilities of Chris Lord-Alge, whose credits include Foo Fighters and Ed Sheeran; Eddie Kramer Vocal Channel draws on classic rock approaches rooted in Zeppelin and Bowie; Maserati VX1 addresses hip-hop and R&B vocal characteristics through Tony Maserati's lens; and JJP Vocals offers Jack Joseph Puig's genre-agnostic approach to vocal presence and definition.
The technical implementation centers on multi-effect chains rather than individual processors. Each plugin stacks compression, EQ, saturation, and spatial effects in preset configurations that reflect each engineer's mixing philosophy. Rather than forcing users to deconstruct black-box processing, Waves provides parameter access alongside preset templates, allowing producers to understand and modify the chains for context-specific applications.

The collection suits both experienced engineers seeking reference points from proven mixing voices and intermediate producers looking to accelerate vocal refinement. The presets serve as solid starting points rather than finished solutions, requiring typical A/B comparison and context-dependent tweaking.
Among comparable vocal bundles, Signature Series Vocals competes primarily through producer name recognition and the genuine specificity of each chain's design philosophy. The approach assumes users benefit from learning how established engineers solve recurring vocal challenges rather than seeking single-knob solutions. Success depends largely on how closely each preset's sonic character aligns with your source material and intended mix direction.
