About this plugin
Tony Maserati's ACG plugin distills decades of high-level mixing experience into a focused acoustic guitar processor that addresses a genuine problem: maintaining clarity and presence in dense arrangements. Rather than overwhelming users with excessive parameters, the plugin operates on a straightforward conceptual framework: two distinct signal chains optimized for different tracking scenarios and mix priorities.
ACG 1 emphasizes level management and tonal sculpting, combining compression with complementary EQ to establish a strong foundational tone. ACG 2 adds greater compression intensity and sensitivity, designed to extract articulation and nuance from recorded performances. This approach acknowledges that acoustic guitar chains vary significantly depending on whether the instrument serves rhythmic or textural roles. The reverb engine, configurable with adjustable pre-delay, sits at the signal chain's end, allowing spatial dimension without sacrificing definition.

The core processing toolkit - punch, excite, mid and high frequency controls - reflects practical mixing experience rather than theoretical design. The punch circuit tightens transients for mix penetration, while the excite function addresses the shimmer quality that distinguishes well-recorded acoustic guitars from dated-sounding ones. Frequency shaping is deliberately limited to relevant ranges, avoiding the decision paralysis of full-spectrum EQ.
The 42 included presets span multiple genres and represent actual starting points rather than extreme sound design, useful for both quick A/B comparisons and comprehensive workflow integration. Available as both insert and send effect, the plugin integrates logically into contemporary mixing templates. For engineers working regularly with acoustic instruments, ACG provides a professionally calibrated alternative to generic multi-effect chains.
