About this plugin
Wave Alchemy's Never Surface distills two decades of IDM aesthetics into a focused drum sample and preset library for Triaz. The expansion houses 377 samples engineered with intentional aliasing and digital artifacts, mirroring the sonic evolution from hardware drum machines to software-based production. This approach yields a distinctive character: samples retain clarity at their core while exhibiting the characteristic high-frequency distortion and sample-rate collision effects that defined early Autechre and Rephlex releases.
The 83 included presets demonstrate substantive sound design rather than superficial styling. They balance fractured, glitchy textures against functional groove frameworks, allowing the sequencer to remain rhythmically coherent even as individual drum hits fragment and decay unpredictably. Kick drums sit with authority while snares and hi-hats splinter into algorithmic noise, creating the controlled chaos essential to IDM production.

This expansion serves experienced producers comfortable with unconventional rhythmic textures and those seeking to authentically reference glitch and IDM heritage without resorting to vintage hardware or obsolete software. The sample library integrates seamlessly within Triaz's architecture, offering full parameter control for customization. Users can decompose presets into constituent elements, adjust processing chains, and export either audio or MIDI stems for further manipulation.
Never Surface occupies a legitimate niche - it's neither a novelty collection nor a universal drum kit. Its value accrues to those pursuing genuinely experimental electronic production, particularly artists working within or adjacent to IDM and glitch genres. The samples and presets function as intelligent starting points rather than finished solutions, demanding engaged creative participation from the user.
