About this plugin
Vital Series: Mallets is a sampled mallet instrument plugin that consolidates eight distinct percussion sources into a single, unified interface. Rather than forcing users to navigate sub-patches, Vir2 has architected the GUI to display all instruments simultaneously with independent control over mallet selection, volume, pan, stereo width, octave transposition, and envelope parameters. This design choice prioritizes workflow efficiency without sacrificing depth.
The underlying sample set reflects considerable recording care. Each instrument was captured with multiple mallet types across up to four velocity layers and five round-robin variations, yielding the textural nuance expected of premium sample libraries. The samples themselves are presented in dry, stereo format, giving the engineer maximum control over processing.

The plugin's creative toolset extends beyond playback. An Extended Range mode stretches the lowest and highest samples across the full C0-C7 keyboard span, useful for timbral experimentation. A dedicated rolls generator creates natural two-handed striking patterns, either on single notes or across intervals. Seven effects chains - including distortion, delay, reverb, and transient control - allow further sound design intervention. The global LFO and lowpass filter enable modulation across the entire instrument layer.
Mallets serves composers, film scorers, and producers requiring realistic mallet percussion without the CPU overhead of multiple individual instruments. Its architecture makes it particularly suited to orchestral mockups and genre work demanding quick iteration between timbral variations. Among comparable tools, its strength lies in the mallet type variety and the unified interface approach, making it accessible to users seeking depth without complexity.
