About this plugin
UAD Select 10 represents Universal Audio's entry point into their powered plugin ecosystem, bundling ten essential processors that cover fundamental mixing and mastering tasks. The collection centers on faithful emulations of classic hardware: the 1176 Classic Limiter, API 2500 compressor, Neve 1073 EQ, and Manley ELOP optical limiter form the cornerstone of dynamic control, while the Ampex 200A tape machine and Softube modeled reverbs add character and depth. Completing the set are utility tools including the SSL G-Series EQ and a selection of vintage compressors.
Sonically, these processors maintain UA's commitment to circuit-level accuracy without sacrificing usability. The 1176 retains its aggressive character across all modes, particularly effective on drums and bass. The API 2500 delivers that punchy, musical compression legendary in rock and hip-hop production. The tape emulation adds harmonic saturation and subtle transient softening that proves invaluable for gluing mixes.

Select 10 appeals primarily to home and project studio producers seeking professional-grade tools without committing to the full UA ecosystem or higher-tier subscriptions. It's particularly valuable for those already invested in Universal Audio's hardware interfaces, which unlock the plugins' DSP acceleration. Compared to competing bundles like Waves or Fabfilter offerings, UAD's advantage lies in the unmistakable sound character of these emulations - they don't merely process audio but impart recognizable tonal signatures that benefit from the credibility of their original hardware designs. For serious mixing work on modest budgets, this collection punches above its price point.
