United Plugins' Biverb addresses a genuine mixing problem: the limitations of single-reverb processing when dealing with complex material. By stacking two independent reverb engines with six algorithm types each (Spring, Room, Plate, Chamber, Hall, and Shimmer), the plugin enables layered spatial effects that would otherwise require multiple instances and significant CPU overhead.

The core innovation lies in its four crossover modes. Frequency splitting directs low and high content to separate reverb chains, useful for preventing mud in bass-heavy mixes. Volume splitting applies different reverb character to transient peaks versus sustained tail material. Stereo mode processes left and right channels independently, creating width or extreme panning effects. Most notably, Mid/Side processing - rarely implemented in reverb plugins - lets you apply different treatments to the center image versus stereo information, a powerful tool for controlling mix coherence.
