About this plugin
United Plugins' Biverb addresses a genuine mixing problem: the limitations of single-reverb processing when dealing with complex material. By stacking two independent reverb engines with six algorithm types each (Spring, Room, Plate, Chamber, Hall, and Shimmer), the plugin enables layered spatial effects that would otherwise require multiple instances and significant CPU overhead.
The core innovation lies in its four crossover modes. Frequency splitting directs low and high content to separate reverb chains, useful for preventing mud in bass-heavy mixes. Volume splitting applies different reverb character to transient peaks versus sustained tail material. Stereo mode processes left and right channels independently, creating width or extreme panning effects. Most notably, Mid/Side processing - rarely implemented in reverb plugins - lets you apply different treatments to the center image versus stereo information, a powerful tool for controlling mix coherence.

The technical approach is straightforward but effective. Each reverb unit operates with independent decay, size, damping, and wet/dry controls, allowing genuine flexibility beyond simple blending. The algorithms themselves deliver the expected character: springs shimmer authentically, halls maintain clarity, plates provide density.
Biverb suits producers working with dense arrangements where traditional reverb creates masking, engineers seeking surgical spatial control without parallel processing chains, and sound designers exploring layered textural possibilities. It won't replace a dedicated convolver for impulse response work, but as a creative tool for sculpting reverb interaction, it's genuinely novel. The Mid/Side capability alone justifies inclusion on critical stereo tracks.
