About this plugin
UJAM's MELLOW 2 Upgrade delivers a substantive expansion to an already capable virtual acoustic bass instrument. The upgrade adds 20 new playing styles and 30 additional presets to the existing library, bringing total content to 60 styles and 1380 phrases. Most significantly, the addition of 15 Finisher multi-effect modes provides genuine sonic shaping capabilities that extend beyond the original's straightforward interface.
The core technology remains rooted in detailed sampling of an upright acoustic bass, with UJAM's proprietary articulation modeling handling the nuances of fingered playing. The sonic character sits between jazz accuracy and contemporary production versatility. MELLOW 2 performs equally well anchoring sparse singer-songwriter arrangements or providing the rounded low end that complements modern hip-hop and R&B production. The instrument's natural resonance translates convincingly across genre contexts where acoustic bass authenticity matters.

The upgrade targets existing MELLOW 1 users seeking expanded creative options without requiring a full repurchase. The Finisher effects set represents the most meaningful addition, allowing producers to shape tone beyond preset selection. MIDI drag-and-drop functionality and backward compatibility ensure seamless integration into established workflows.
While UJAM maintains its philosophy of intuitive, non-technical operation, MELLOW 2 Upgrade is best suited for producers who already understand the original instrument's strengths and want deeper customization. The expansion pack justifies upgrade consideration primarily for those regularly working across multiple genres or seeking enhanced sound design flexibility within MELLOW's particular sonic character.
