About this plugin
UJAM's Circuits is a drum machine plugin that emulates the sonic character of classic analog drum synthesizers from the 1970s and early 1980s. Rather than aspiring to clinical accuracy, Circuits embraces the harmonic distortion, component saturation, and frequency coloration that define vintage drum machines, making it particularly useful when you need authentic character rather than pristine synthesis.
The plugin ships with 10 drum kits containing 16 instruments each, arranged across 20 style templates with 460 total patterns. This library-based approach prioritizes workflow efficiency, allowing producers to audition cohesive groove combinations quickly rather than programming from scratch. The MIDI drag-and-drop functionality streamlines integration into existing arrangements.

Sonically, Circuits distinguishes itself through its processing architecture. The Boost control operates as a multiband tool that simultaneously tightens sub frequencies, carves midrange, and adds high-end shimmer before feeding into a lookahead compressor, creating the densely layered drum sounds characteristic of vintage gear pushed hard into analog limiters. The Mix section provides 12 preset processing chains including slap delay and stereo widening, offering rapid tonal variation without deep parameter diving.
Circuits serves producers working across hip-hop, synthwave, lo-fi, and electronic music who value period-appropriate sonic texture. Its resizable interface and straightforward control scheme make it accessible to users at various skill levels, though experienced engineers will appreciate the Boost control's surgical approach to frequency shaping. As a loyalty upgrade, it represents a practical addition to UJAM's ecosystem, particularly for users already invested in their plugin suite.
