About this plugin
Ueberschall's Upright Bass 2 delivers a curated collection of low-tempo double bass performances recorded with considerable sonic warmth and depth. The library comprises nearly 450 loops and phrases organized across 30 folders, with individual performances running 2 or 4 bars in length. Each folder provides 9 to 21 variations on a thematic bass line, allowing producers to construct extended arrangements without exhausting the available vocabulary or sacrificing musical coherence.
The sonic character distinguishes itself through deliberate emphasis on sub-bass content and room ambience. Rather than pursuing studio dryness, the recordings capture the resonance of a properly miked instrument in an acoustically sympathetic space. This approach yields performances that integrate naturally into soul, lo-fi hip-hop, trip-hop, and R&B contexts, where the tactile presence of the bass line carries considerable arrangement weight. Recorded by Christian Flohr, the performances exhibit the technical control and expressive phrasing expected from a classical upright bass player interpreting contemporary idioms.

Integration within Elastik's framework provides meaningful flexibility. The platform's time-stretching and pitch-shifting capabilities allow cross-folder mixing and project-specific adaptation without the artifacts that compromise lesser algorithms. For producers and media composers seeking authentic bass accompaniment with genuine low-end presence, Upright Bass 2 offers a pragmatic alternative to either traditional sampling or synthesis. The 800MB library size ensures sufficient variety for sustained creative work while maintaining a focused sonic palette that resists the homogenization common in larger phrase collections.
