About this plugin
Retro Future is a loop construction kit that bridges contemporary production needs with deliberate 80s aesthetic choices. Rather than serving as a standalone effect plugin, it functions as a comprehensive sample library within Ueberschall's Elastik engine, offering over 400 individual loops organized into five construction kits spanning 104 to 124 BPM. The sonic approach centers on layered instrumentation: live-recorded electric bass and guitar anchor rhythmic content, while electric and acoustic piano provide harmonic grounding. Synth textures deliver the distinctive retro character, supported by vinyl noise loops for optional lo-fi coloration.
The kit's strength lies in its modular architecture. Each section presents discrete tracks for drums (with individual sounds for kicks, snares, hi-hats, percussion elements), bass parts, guitars with both dry and processed variants, and synth layers. This granular approach allows producers to construct personalized arrangements rather than working with pre-baked patterns. The inclusion of single drum sounds supplements the pre-mixed loops, enabling hybrid workflows that combine library content with custom programming.

Elastik's sample engine provides tempo and key flexibility across the 104 to 124 BPM range, accommodating typical pop and funk production contexts. Individual loops extend to 18 seconds, facilitating full-arrangement construction without excessive repetition.
Retro Future targets producers seeking authentic 80s-inflected material with contemporary clarity and flexibility. It suits pop, funk, soul, and lounge projects where period character enhances rather than dominates the sonic palette. Among comparable loop libraries, its emphasis on instrumental separation and reasonable loop lengths distinguishes it for serious production work rather than demo sketching.
