About this plugin
Ueberschall's Rare Grooves Vol. 2 is a construction kit library that captures the textural essence of early 1970s funk and soul production with considerable technical sophistication. The collection spans five kits operating in the 104-110 BPM range, containing 704 loops organized across multiple sections with performance variations extending to 16-bar phrases. This granular approach accommodates both loop-based composition and sample-based arrangement workflows common in contemporary hip-hop, breakbeat, and electronic music production.
The library's technical strength lies in its dual-source recording strategy. Alongside direct-injected guitars and basses suited for modern processing chains, Ueberschall captured miked and amped recordings that preserve the harmonic saturation characteristic of analog tape and overdriven amplifiers. This methodology yields genuine tonal complexity rather than digital emulation, particularly evident in the bass and guitar elements that form the kit's foundation.

Drum tracks arrive both as cohesive loops and as isolated components - kick, snare, hihat, cymbals, toms, overheads and room mics - enabling precise mixing control and creative reprocessing. Complementary instrumentation includes organs, strings, and electric pianos, expanding the palette beyond percussive elements.
Rare Grooves Vol. 2 serves producers seeking authentic period-accurate material without sacrificing production flexibility. The distinction from similar libraries emerges through careful analog recording practices rather than sample speed-shifting or digital resampling. For those working in soul-influenced electronic music, sample-based hip-hop, or any production requiring convincing 70s funk textures with contemporary mixing capabilities, this collection provides a substantive foundation built on genuine source material and thoughtful technical execution.
