About this plugin
Rare Grooves Vol. 1 is Ueberschall's curated sample library capturing the sonic essence of early 1970s funk and soul recording techniques. The collection comprises 10 construction kits spanning 78 to 122 BPM, totaling 734 meticulously sourced and processed loops that prioritize authenticity over pristine digital clarity.
The sonic signature reflects genuine period constraints and creative solutions. Rather than polished modern production, these recordings showcase tape saturation pushed to audible limits, slurred tape-based delays, unconventional reverb treatments, and natural amplifier coloration - the hallmark sound of resource-limited studios where experimentation became necessity. Each kit includes fully isolated drum elements (kick, snare, hihat, ride, crash, toms, tambourine, overheads), bass, electric piano, and complementary instrumentation, alongside complete stereo mixdowns that function as finished vinyl samples ready for integration.

The ninth kit stands apart as a dedicated break collection with nine individual classic patterns, designed for flexible arrangement across other kits. This modular architecture allows producers to work with complete grooves or surgically extract individual instrumental elements for hybrid approaches.
Rare Grooves serves hip-hop producers, breakbeat specialists, and electronic musicians seeking authentic funk source material without the licensing friction of sample clearance. The library occupies clear territory against pristine modern funk libraries - it deliberately preserves the tonal character and subtle imperfections that made seventies recordings compelling to sample-based producers. For creators seeking genuine period texture rather than synthetic funk emulation, this represents a legitimate alternative to digging vinyl or licensing existing breaks, with the added advantage of trackable, segregated elements for customization.
