About this plugin
Ueberschall's Metal Riffs delivers 800 loops and phrases recorded across 7 and 8-string guitars, capturing the essential texture of contemporary metal production. The library addresses a specific technical requirement in modern heavy music: the need for authentic downtuned guitar performances that sit naturally in dense mixes without requiring extensive re-amping or processing.
The dual soundbank approach distinguishes this from typical guitar loop libraries. Parallel amp-miked recordings and DI stems provide genuine flexibility. The amp tracks offer immediately usable tones with established mic placement and room character, while DI versions accommodate producers who prefer sculpting their own amp cabinet modeling and drive characteristics. This pairing allows seamless blending between both formats, which proves more versatile than committing to either approach alone.

Organization favors practical workflow. Loops arrive at 100 and 130 BPM in B and F# tunings, with three discrete performances per riff plus pre-mixed stereo combinations. The 8-bar length facilitates genuine compositional layering rather than surface-level loop stacking. Elastik's embedded pitch and tempo tools enable cross-key and tempo manipulation without degradation, essential for accommodating different project requirements.
Recording quality remains consistently high across all material. The playing reflects professional technique, and the sonics avoid the compressed clarity that plagues many guitar loop libraries. This restraint actually enhances usability within full arrangements.
Metal Riffs occupies a legitimate niche within the broader metal guitar library ecosystem. It's best suited for producers building authentic modern metal without requiring session guitarists, or as a reference and layering source for those who do.
