About this plugin
Ueberschall's 80s Synthwave is a construction kit library delivered via the Elastik player, offering a focused collection of period-authentic synthesizer and drum sounds wrapped in modern production sensibilities. The package contains approximately 3.5GB of material organized into 10 complete projects with around 700 individual loops, all captured using classic hardware including Prophet 5, OB-X, and DX-7 synthesizers alongside vintage drum machines like the Linndrum and 909.
The sonic character centers on the synthwave aesthetic popularized by composers like John Carpenter and film soundtracks such as Drive, but executes the vintage palette with contemporary mixing and processing. Drum loops draw from both pre-mixed arrangements and separated elements - kick, snare, hi-hat, and cymbals tracked individually - allowing producers to construct custom drum mixes or strategic breakdowns. Instrumentation spans electronic drums, layered synth parts including arpeggiations and pads, bass synths, lead lines, and atmospheric effects. Gated reverb and other period-appropriate processing are integrated throughout.

The Elastik player itself handles real-time host synchronization with minimal CPU impact through zplane's élastique pro algorithm, while the browser structure adds practical organization via key and tempo metadata. The Loopeye editing interface provides direct sample manipulation without requiring external DAW steps.
This library suits producers seeking club-ready synthwave material or composers needing convincing 1980s synth textures with professional modern production. While positioned primarily as a construction kit collection rather than a traditional effects processor, 80s Synthwave functions as a comprehensive sound design toolkit for the synthwave and darkwave genres.
