About this plugin
Drum & Bass Essentials is a purpose-built sound design toolkit for Tracktion's Waveform DAW, crafted by Miclop to streamline production within the drum and bass genre. Rather than a traditional effect processor, this construction kit functions as a comprehensive preset and sample library integrated directly into Waveform Free 13 and Pro 13, providing the foundational sonic materials that define contemporary DNB production.
The kit ships with 61 custom presets optimized for both the 4OSC synthesizer and Multi Sampler, available in both preset and Track Loop formats. These sounds lean toward the aggressive, sub-heavy characteristics that define modern drum and bass, with particular attention to bass synthesis and percussive textures. Additionally, two carefully curated Drum Sampler kits containing 22 individual sounds provide essential breakbeats and one-shot percussion elements, while nine MIDI clips focused on bass patterns and five drum-oriented step clips offer immediate starting points for composition and arrangement.

This resource proves most valuable for producers already committed to Waveform's workflow, particularly those new to drum and bass production seeking to understand authentic genre conventions. The material is sonically competent but not groundbreaking; its primary strength lies in reducing setup friction for a specific production context. Experienced producers may view it as a supplementary palette rather than a complete sonic solution, though the included MIDI and Step Clip examples provide genuine educational value in understanding rhythmic and harmonic approaches to the genre. The kit's integration within Waveform makes it most practical for those already using the platform.
