About this plugin
Space Replicator is LEWITT's convolution-based room simulation plugin that models the acoustic characteristics of professional mixing and mastering spaces, enabling headphone-based mixing with the stereo imaging and spatial properties of high-end studios. The plugin captures impulse responses from carefully selected rooms, including LEWITT's own facilities and Vienna's Synchron Stage, translating the acoustic behavior of these spaces into binaural processing suitable for headphone monitoring.
The technical approach centers on preserving the natural stereo field and speaker separation that makes professional mixing rooms valuable, rather than simply adding reverb coloration. This matters practically: when mixing on headphones, the proximity of drivers creates an artificial center-focused image that makes it difficult to assess mix balance and compression accuracy. Space Replicator addresses this by simulating the listening distance and acoustic reflections of actual control rooms, allowing engineers to make more confident mixing decisions without acoustic treatment or expensive gear.

Beyond studio simulation, the plugin includes reference spaces for mix translation checking - smartphones, car interiors, club systems - making it useful for verifying how mixes will translate across consumer playback environments. This addresses a legitimate workflow need: most mixes are heard on devices far removed from expensive monitor setups.
Space Replicator is most valuable for engineers working exclusively on headphones, those in untreated or compromised acoustic spaces, and producers seeking faster mix translation feedback. It's not a replacement for treated rooms and proper monitors, but functions as a practical compromise for remote work or as a supplementary checking tool. The plugin's effectiveness depends entirely on the quality of its captured impulse responses, which appear well-executed but remain proprietary.
