About this plugin
Shimmer is Soundiron's comprehensive percussion and texture library, offering 463 samples designed around shimmering, crystalline timbres that serve both functional and creative purposes. The collection draws from unconventional sources - bubble gum pops, vintage toy synths, chimes, bells, and shakers - processed to yield coherent, musically compatible results across the full frequency spectrum.
The Kontakt 5.5.2+ instrument provides substantial sound design capabilities beyond simple playback. A full control surface includes adjustable attack and release envelopes, transient offset for micro-timing adjustments, filter cutoff and resonance with multiple filter types, and over 100 convolution reverb impulses covering spaces from intimate rooms to specialized effects. The arpeggiator system is particularly robust, offering multiple sequencing modes that encourage exploratory, generative composition.

Unlike generic percussion libraries, Shimmer's timbral palette coheres across categories, allowing arbitrary combinations without sonic discontinuity. This makes it particularly valuable for electronic and experimental work where textural layering defines the composition.
The library suits several applications effectively. Game audio and UI design benefit from its clean, contemporary interface effects. Electronic producers working in trap, IDM, and ambient music find immediate utility in the pads, risers, and rhythmic textures. Post-production and film scoring leverage the library's glitchy, sci-fi elements and reactive sound design potential. Hip hop and downtempo producers gain access to unconventional percussive elements that contrast effectively with traditional drum machines.
All samples are included as uncompressed stereo WAV files, enabling integration into any DAW or sample engine. This dual approach - Kontakt instrument plus raw samples - ensures flexibility regardless of production environment. Shimmer represents a matured, purpose-built tool rather than a sprawling sample dump.
