About this plugin
Soundiron's Mini Saron brings authentic Indonesian gamelan character into a Kontakt-based instrument that transcends its toy origins through meticulous sampling and sound design. The library captures eight metal bars played with mallets and hammers across 10 round robins and up to 10 velocity layers, recorded simultaneously from two microphone positions to preserve the instrument's delicate timbral complexity.
The sonic character sits between percussive clarity and sustained resonance. Notes exhibit natural metallic shimmer with organic decay curves that respond convincingly to velocity variation. The two mic positions allow users to dial between close, detailed attack and distant, reverberant character, providing mixing flexibility within a single patch.

Beyond the core sampled content, Mini Saron's architecture prioritizes sound manipulation through a comprehensive modulation system. The LFO offers tempo-synced modulation across selectable targets, while 12 filter types with assignable modulation destinations enable dynamic tonal shaping. An 18-module effects rack - featuring convolution reverb, distortion, phaser, flanger, and delay among others - supports both subtle enhancement and aggressive sound design. The arpeggiator includes swing, randomization, and velocity tables, while scale locking constrains compositions to specified keys.
The interface design prioritizes workflow, with intuitive automation-ready controls for swell, attack, release, and pitch. Twenty included FX presets demonstrate production-ready possibilities without requiring deep parameter diving.
Mini Saron serves soundtrack composers, ambient producers, and electronic musicians seeking distinctive percussive textures beyond conventional sample libraries. It occupies a specialized niche where authentic acoustic character meets extensive programmability - useful for anyone requiring controlled unpredictability rather than mechanical precision.
