About this plugin
Harmonic Tides stands as a specialized textural instrument designed around the unique sonic properties of string harmonics and unconventional bowing techniques. The library captures two distinct sound sources: layered cello harmonic glissandi that produce shimmering, organic movement across the frequency spectrum, and sampled double bass after-length articulations that introduce sharp, hollow textures with inherent tension. Both are recorded with close-mic placement and multi-layered solo performances panned spatially, creating depth and complexity that extends well beyond typical orchestral string sampling.
The instrument excels at generating expansive pads, atmospheric swells, and textural drones rather than realistic orchestral articulations. Each sound features four dynamic layers across a full chromatic range, enabling expressive real-time control via keyboard or MIDI controller. The processing and recording methodology deliberately obscure the acoustic origins of the source material, resulting in a sonic character that sits comfortably in contemporary film scoring, ambient composition, and experimental arrangement contexts.

Harmonic Tides proves most valuable for composers and sound designers working in modern scoring contexts where lush, evolving textures serve emotional rather than literal orchestral functions. It distinguishes itself from conventional string libraries through its focus on nuance and movement rather than articulation variety. The dual-source design allows for subtle layering and blending of complementary timbres, making it particularly suited for producers seeking sophisticated textural depth without relying on traditional orchestration approaches.
The library's strength lies in its specificity: it does one thing exceptionally well and integrates effectively into hybrid arrangements alongside electronic or traditional instrumental elements.
