About this plugin
Origins Vol.7: Tar & Chonguri stands as a sophisticated ethnic string instrument plugin that pairs two historically distinct instruments within a single, cohesive interface. Built on Native Instruments' Kontakt platform, this instrument requires the full version to function, a technical requirement that reflects its reliance on sample-based architecture rather than synthesis.
The plugin's sonic foundation rests on the complementary timbral characteristics of its namesake instruments. The Tar, with its steel strings and plectrum articulation, delivers percussive attack and crystalline definition rooted in Persian musical tradition. The Chonguri, a Georgian instrument with silk strings, contributes warmth and harmonic complexity that smooths the Tar's sharper edges. This pairing creates a broader tonal palette than either instrument offers alone, enabling producers to access both bright, rhythmic textures and softer, sustaining elements within a single patch.

The Multi-Arpeggio Designer (MAD) functions as the plugin's central feature, offering two customizable arpeggiators that can interlock to generate intricate, humanistic patterns. Rather than mechanically cycling through notes, the engine emphasizes musical coherence, with over 80 presets providing immediate starting points. The architecture allows sophisticated layering of both instruments, with independent control over each arpeggiator's patterns, timings, and articulations.
This instrument suits producers seeking authentic ethnic string textures for world music, cinematic scoring, and experimental electronic production. Among comparable tools, Origins Vol.7 distinguishes itself through its dual-instrument approach and accessible yet powerful arpeggio engine, positioning it between sample libraries and traditional synthesizers in both capability and workflow.
