About this plugin
Sonuscore's Origins Vol.1 pairs two percussion instruments with considerable textural range within a single Kontakt instrument. The Steel Tongue Drum delivers percussive attack and metallic resonance, while the Sansula - a membrane-based descendant of the kalimba - contributes warmer, more mellow tonal qualities. The pairing works effectively for scoring applications where organic percussion needs rhythmic sophistication without the weight of traditional drum kits.
The Multi-Arpeggio Designer (MAD) forms the instrument's central engine, offering dual customizable arpeggiators that interlock patterns rather than randomly sequencing notes. This design philosophy prioritizes musicality over algorithmic unpredictability, allowing users to craft arpeggios with genuine rhythmic intent. The 80+ factory presets demonstrate competent sound design choices, though experienced producers will likely spend considerable time in custom editing to achieve specific tonal signatures.

The Colours menu provides twelve distinct effect and impulse response configurations that genuinely alter the sonic character - not merely cosmetic adjustments. This modulation approach yields usable tonal variation across different mixing contexts.
The requirement for the full Kontakt version rather than the free player represents a modest barrier, though typical for professional sample-based instruments. Origins Vol.1 occupies a particular niche: film and game composers seeking accessible, rhythmically intelligent percussion textures with world music character. For general music production, the instrument's limited palette and arpeggiation-focused workflow may feel restrictive. The cross-compatibility of custom arpeggios across the Origins series suggests Sonuscore intends this as the foundation for an expanding modular ecosystem.
