About this plugin
Sonic Sweep 2 is a three-channel console EQ and bus processor that models the signal path architecture of classic 8-bus mixing consoles. Rather than simply emulating individual circuit blocks, Rave Generation has reconstructed the summing topology itself, allowing you to blend between true parallel processing and cascaded serial routing via a continuous crossfade. This architectural flexibility alone distinguishes it from standard multiband EQ tools.
The sonic foundation rests on measured component modeling: input transformer saturation, NJM4560 op-amp slew rate limiting, and asymmetric distortion that mimics aging analog circuitry. These aren't cosmetic additions. The slew rate limiting at 4.0 V/μs subtly compresses transients across multiple processing stages, creating the natural glue that vintage consoles imparted on drums and mixed content. The console noise feature goes further, incorporating temperature drift and 50 Hz hum rather than static noise, lending genuine organic movement to otherwise sterile digital processing.

Each channel offers genuine parametric control across the spectrum - Hi-Mid (500 Hz to 18 kHz) and Lo-Mid (45 Hz to 3 kHz) bands with adjustable Q from 1/12 to 3 octaves, plus fixed shelves and a steep 75 Hz Chebyshev high-pass. The parallel-serial blend engine is the standout innovation, enabling creative parallel compression effects on drum buses or additive saturation chains on full mixes.
Sonic Sweep 2 suits mixing engineers seeking vintage console character without sacrificing modern parametric precision, and producers working with electronic or acoustic material who want multiband coloration with genuine tactile personality. It represents a thoughtful alternative to generic EQ stacking, particularly for cohesive bus processing.
