About this plugin
Tube-Tech Blue Tone consolidates the essential processing chain most engineers reach for on vocals, drums, and stereo buses into a single plugin with genuine Tube-Tech heritage. Built on officially licensed circuits from the SMC 2B multiband compressor and the PE 1C and ME 1B equalizers, Blue Tone delivers the warm, musical character these units are known for without requiring separate plugin instances across your mix.
The interface strips away unnecessary complexity. Rather than exposing multiband crossovers, compression ratios, and EQ curves, Blue Tone presents eight preset modes that address common mixing scenarios: Vocal Clarity and Vocal Focus handle intelligible lead and doubled vocals; Mix Bus and Mix Bus (Wide) provide cohesion across stereo mixes; Drum Bus and Bass focus on rhythm section glue; and Keys/Guitar and Stereo Guitars (Wide) address those frequency ranges with appropriate processing. Each mode combines the Tube-Tech EQ's gentle, musical coloration with precisely calibrated multiband compression, requiring only an amount control to dial in the effect strength.

This approach appeals most to mixing engineers and producers who value speed without sacrificing sonic integrity. Rather than A-B testing numerous compressor and EQ combinations, you select a mode and adjust a single parameter. The Tube-Tech sound remains recognizable across all modes - smooth, refined, and somewhat forgiving of aggressive settings.
Blue Tone doesn't replace surgical mixing tools, but it effectively handles the foundational processing that historically demanded multiple hardware units. For anyone familiar with Tube-Tech's reputation or Softube's emulation work, the plugin represents a practical distillation of proven mixing principles.
