About this plugin
RP-VERB 2 represents a significant refinement of Rob Papen's already respected reverb engine, building on the original's signature dense, warm character while introducing genuinely useful creative tools. The core reverb algorithm retains the tonal warmth that made the first version a studio staple, but the addition of a Reverser module substantially expands creative possibilities. This feature inverts reverb decay in tempo-synced ways, generating reverse reverb effects with genuine musicality rather than gimmickry - particularly effective on drums and vocal elements where it produces otherworldly textural shifts.
The control architecture now encompasses an Envelope Follower, dedicated Envelope, LFO, and Mod Matrix, allowing parameter modulation that transforms the reverb from static processing into dynamic, evolving sound design tool. The inclusion of a distortion section with Fold-over, Fuzz, Power, and Saturation algorithms may initially seem cosmetic, but proves surprisingly effective at reshaping reverb character, especially valuable for adding aggression to ambient textures or controlling wash without simply reducing wet levels.

The EQ section uses Rob Papen's proven RP-EQ topology with shelving at 80Hz and 12kHz plus a parametric mid sweep, offering surgical control over reverb tone. The 500-included presets span practical starting points to experimental territories, though experienced engineers will likely treat these as jumping-off points rather than final destinations.
This upgrade targets producers and engineers already committed to RP-VERB 1 who want enhanced creative control. While not revolutionary, RP-VERB 2 meaningfully extends the original's utility across mixing, sound design, and production contexts where reverb functions as an instrument rather than mere spatial processor.
