Rather than applying broad processing across the entire tail, TAILS employs a dual-buffer architecture that automatically isolates and removes problematic transients and harmonic conflicts from the reverb decay. The plugin continuously analyzes incoming audio, detecting significant transient peaks and note changes. When these are identified, it ducks the primary reverb buffer and switches to a secondary, clean buffer that blooms back in smoothly. This surgical approach prevents the metallic pinging and harmonic muddiness that plagues conventional reverbs when processing percussive or dissonant material.
The implementation includes four distinct reverb engines: DEEP and RENOUN (borrowed from BYOME), the disorienting SPATIAL algorithm, and SHIMMER - a new mode specifically voiced by BT for lush, harmonic wash. Each offers considerable parameter depth while remaining sonically coherent. The plugin also supports MIDI note input for buffer muting and modulation wheel integration, enabling rhythmic tail manipulation and live performance flexibility.
