About this plugin
Click Boom represents a genuinely useful approach to transient processing by splitting the work across two independent shapers rather than forcing a single algorithm to handle the full spectrum. The Click section targets punchy, high-frequency attack information while Boom handles the lower-frequency thump and sustain characteristics that define kick and bass weight. This architectural choice sidesteps the common problem of traditional transient shaping, where boosting attack often affects frequency ranges you'd prefer to leave alone.
The implementation centers on precise control over detection sensitivity, transient length, and saturation applied to each band. The Crunch parameter adds harmonic coloration rather than just amplitude adjustment, which proves particularly valuable for drums and basses that need presence without becoming obviously processed. The included clipper handles peaks without introducing the dull, over-limited character that can result from aggressive transient gain alone.

The Tail control deserves specific mention, as it addresses dynamics in the sustain region rather than just the initial strike. This allows you to independently reshape how quickly a sound decays, which proves invaluable for tightening loose drums or extending natural resonance on basses.
Click Boom works across drums, guitars, basses, and mix bus applications, though it excels on sources with clear transient information. The interface remains uncluttered without sacrificing the granular control serious mixing demands. Among comparable tools like FabFilter Pro-DS or Softube's transient processors, Click Boom's dual-band approach and saturation options position it as a capable, focused alternative that justifies its place in professional workflows.
