About this plugin
Paragon ST represents a pragmatic evolution in convolution reverb design, addressing the fundamental limitations that have long plagued the category. Rather than relying on static impulse responses, NUGEN Audio employs re-synthesis technology that decouples the reverb's decay, room dimensions, and spectral character from the original recorded space. This approach eliminates the artifacts inherent to time-stretching, allowing you to expand or contract reverb tails without the phasing distortion that typically compromises convolution reverbs when pushed beyond their source parameters.
The plugin's sonic foundation rests on authentic impulse responses captured from real spaces, but the control set transforms these into genuinely flexible tools. Mic distance adjustment provides intuitive early reflection shaping, effectively placing sources closer to or further from the listener. Tempo-locked pre-delay and modulation sync naturally to your session, while stereo width controls address the increasingly important need for dimensional precision in modern mixing. Frequency-dependent decay and spectral EQ allow surgical tonal adjustment without resorting to separate processing chains.

For producers and engineers working across genres, Paragon ST occupies compelling middle ground. It's not as CPU-efficient as algorithmic reverbs, nor does it offer the exhaustive library depth of some convolution alternatives. What it does deliver is versatility with audible authenticity - you can achieve convincing room ambience on vocals and drums, then push into more experimental territory on synths and guitars without sonic degradation. The curated impulse response collection sidesteps bloat while remaining musically diverse. This is particularly valuable in mixing scenarios where you need one reverb capable of naturalistic restraint and creative excess within the same session, making Paragon ST a genuinely useful addition to any contemporary mixing toolkit.
