About this plugin
Niche Audio's Post Dubstep & Future Garage collection represents a thoughtfully curated toolkit for producers seeking authentic sonics rooted in the UK's post-2006 underground electronic movements. Rather than offering generic atmospheric presets, this pack delivers 15 meticulously constructed drum kits built from a hybrid signal chain of analog synthesis and digital sampling, capturing the textural density that defines the genre's production aesthetic.
The sonic architecture prioritizes shuffled breakbeats and polyrhythmic layering characteristic of future garage, paired with cavernous reverb treatments and sub-bass design typical of post-dubstep's spatial approach. The included 42 instrument racks provide modular sound design foundations - pad textures, melodic synths, and bass sources that respond well to Live's native effects chains and Maschine's effects processors. With 240 samples across 24-bit / 44.1kHz specifications, there's sufficient granularity for both chopping and granular manipulation without excessive file bloat.

The starter projects function effectively as technical references, demonstrating how to layer drums, sidechain compression techniques, and automation curves that drive the genre's characteristic dynamics. This approach benefits experienced producers more than novices, as the kits assume familiarity with effects routing and drum programming fundamentals.
While the sonic palette clearly draws influence from Burial, Mount Kimbie, and Synkro, the collection's modularity extends usefulness beyond strict genre boundaries. The underlying sound design principles - particularly the emphasis on spatial processing and rhythmic complexity - transfer readily to drum and bass, ambient, and experimental contexts. For producers working in contemporary electronic music seeking historically grounded but adaptable tools, this pack delivers professional-grade content without unnecessary compromises.
