About this plugin
Niche Audio's Old School Hip Hop Wav Pack is a curated collection of sampled drum breaks, bass loops, and melodic elements extracted from classic funk and soul sources that defined 1980s and early 1990s hip hop production. Rather than offering synthesized approximations, the pack delivers authentic one-shots and loop segments sourced from original vinyl records, maintaining the harmonic artifacts and tape saturation characteristic of that era.
The collection comprises roughly 200 samples across multiple categories - kicks, snares, hi-hats, and layerable percussion elements that respond predictably to time-stretching within modern DAWs. The bass loops, recorded at 95-100 BPM, demonstrate the clean yet characterful low-end common to classic East Coast production, while drum breaks showcase the pocket inconsistencies that define human swing.

This pack proves most valuable for producers working in boom-bap, trap, or contemporary genres seeking authentic textural references rather than factory-default sounds. The samples integrate seamlessly with modern sampling techniques and remain usable without excessive processing, though the included metadata makes drag-and-drop integration straightforward.
Compared to competing offerings like Loopmasters' "Golden Era" or Splice's extensive hip hop catalogs, the Niche Audio pack occupies middle ground - smaller in scope but more deliberately curated, with noticeably higher bit-depth mastering. It represents a solid addition for producers seeking specific period-appropriate material without navigating the laborious process of vinyl digging and sampling themselves.
