About this plugin
Niche Audio's 2 Step Garage distills the essence of early 2000s UK garage production into a comprehensively sampled toolkit designed for Maschine and Ableton Live. The collection comprises 13 core kits plus two supplementary sets focused on vocal cuts and effects, drawing directly from the sonic vocabulary established by MJ Cole, El-B, and Artful Dodger. At its foundation are over 200 samples captured in 24-bit, spanning the full instrumentation palette: vintage electric pianos, resampled analog basses, pitched vocal chops, organic guitar textures, and the characteristically gritty synth stabs that define the genre.
The plugin's architecture emphasizes immediacy without sacrificing flexibility. Comprehensive MIDI patterns ship with each kit, allowing producers to adopt wholesale arrangements or deconstruct them element by element. The dusty, analogue-derived character of the samples remains consistent throughout, yet the pack successfully bridges classic UKG aesthetics with contemporary production sensibilities. Maschine users receive five starter projects and 15 fully-realized kits; Ableton users get 13 project files, 15 Drum Racks, and 56 Simpler presets that extend the toolkit's applicability across different workflow scenarios.

This collection serves producers seeking authentic UK garage foundation sounds without requiring extensive digging through rare vinyl or spending weeks on sound design. The depth of included MIDI patterns accelerates initial arrangement work, while the edit-friendly architecture ensures creative ownership remains paramount. For contemporary producers working within garage, grime, or related UK bass music contexts, 2 Step Garage functions as a legitimate reference library rather than a generic loop pack.
