About this plugin
NeonVerb MV2 is a convolution-based reverb that reconstructs the sonic signature of the Alesis MidiVerb II, a workhorse unit that defined ambient production through the 1990s. Rather than simply emulating the original hardware, Audiority has captured its core impulse responses and rebuilt the interface with modern playability in mind, making it accessible for contemporary production workflows while preserving the characteristic warmth and spatial density that made the MidiVerb II distinctive.
The plugin's architecture centers on hybrid convolution processing paired with genuine control expansion. The TimeStretch algorithm allows decay adjustment without the typical artifacts of simple time-scaling, maintaining timbral coherence across settings. Two complementary modulation engines add movement: MOD introduces subtle tape-like flutter on the input signal, while SPIN applies Lexicon-inspired modulation to the reverb tail for width and shimmer. An additional diffusion network beyond the original hardware specs increases spatial complexity, useful for thickening thin sources or adding density to sparse arrangements.

Output transformer saturation provides harmonic coloration and glue, preventing the sterile quality that can plague digital reverbs. The filtering section (LF/HF damping) shapes how the reverb decays across the frequency spectrum, essential for preventing mud in dense mixes.
NeonVerb MV2 suits producers and engineers seeking vintage character without sacrifice of control. It excels on drums, vocals, and synths, where the MidiVerb II's particular flavor adds cohesion and space. Among modern vintage reverb plugins, it stands apart through accurate sonic archaeology paired with genuine functional improvements, making it valuable for both nostalgic recreation and contemporary mix shaping.
