About this plugin
Native Instruments' Solid Mix Series R2 consolidates three essential mixing tools into a single, cohesive plugin package designed for engineers who value transparent processing with a distinctly analog character. The suite comprises three distinct modules: Solid Bus Comp, a versatile compression engine that extends beyond traditional bus duties; Solid EQ, a six-band parametric equalizer with two switchable curve modes for variable coloration; and Solid Dynamics, a combined compressor, expander, and gate architecture optimized for channel-level control.
The sonic signature across all three components reflects Native Instruments' approach to emulating high-end SSL and API console characteristics without unnecessary complexity. Solid Bus Comp delivers musical glue across mix buses while remaining clean enough for surgical single-channel work. The EQ's dual-mode switching accommodates both precision surgical cuts and more aggressive, character-driven shaping. Solid Dynamics prioritizes musicality in its response curves, making it forgiving on sources that require fast reaction times yet rewarding on material demanding slower envelope control.

This package suits mixing engineers seeking a focused, workflow-efficient toolkit rather than a sprawling effects collection. It addresses the common studio need for console-grade processing without resorting to CPU-heavy modeling or unnecessary feature bloat. While not revolutionary in isolation, the integration of these three modules creates a practical foundation for mix processing that balances technical accuracy with pleasing analog character. For professionals and serious hobbyists already invested in Native Instruments' ecosystem, it represents a logical, capable addition to standard mixing chains.
