About this plugin
Session Strings 2 captures the intimacy of a small professional string ensemble - four violins, three violas, two cellos, and two basses - recorded with meticulous attention to detail at a Berlin studio. The ensemble comprises vintage instruments played by experienced session musicians, and the sampling reflects that authenticity. The library encompasses 14 articulations spanning pizzicato, various legato techniques, portamento, crescendo, and accent variations, providing genuine tonal flexibility for contemporary composition.
The plugin's core strength lies in its intelligent voice-leading architecture. The Smart Voice Split feature automatically distributes notes across the appropriate instrument sections, solving a persistent challenge in string programming where unnatural doublings or register imbalances can undermine realism. The True Legato mode handles interval-specific transitions with interval-dependent sampling, avoiding the generic slide quality that compromises many string libraries.

Additional tools justify the interface design. Smart Chord generates full orchestrations from single keystrokes, while the Rhythm Animator functions as a contextual arpeggiator with per-step articulation assignment. These features accelerate arrangement work without sacrificing control. The Color parameter applies a master multi-effect processor that shapes the ensemble's overall character efficiently.
Session Strings 2 targets producers working in pop, R&B, and electronic music who require convincing string textures without extensive programming knowledge. The streamlined interface and automated voice management make it accessible to less experienced arrangers, while the sound quality and articulation depth satisfy professional standards. Among contemporary string instruments, it occupies practical middle ground - more detailed than sample packs, more immediate than deep sampling libraries, with workflow features that acknowledge modern production's emphasis on speed.
