About this plugin
Native Instruments' Rare Vibrations expansion represents a thoughtfully curated sonic toolkit designed for producers working across contemporary jazz fusion and rhythm-based genres. The collection prioritizes texture and usability, offering sound design that bridges traditional jazz vocabulary with modern production sensibilities.
The expansion centers on four primary sonic domains: synthesized harmonic elements, melodic instrumentation, rhythmic foundations, and percussive color. The synth textures lean toward warmth and movement rather than clinical precision, incorporating subtle modulation and spatial characteristics that encourage musical interplay. Key instruments deliver idiomatic jazz phrasing without relying on overstated effects, while the bass collection provides clean, articulate foundations suitable for both traditional walking patterns and contemporary elastic grooves.

What distinguishes Rare Vibrations from competing jazz-focused sample libraries is its integration of MIDI patterns and loops alongside raw samples. This hybrid approach allows experienced producers to deconstruct and recombine material efficiently, rather than simply loading pre-built sequences. The percussion selection avoids cliche, emphasizing unconventional cymbal textures and world percussion that complement rather than dominate modern production contexts.
The plugin functions as a reliable resource for hip-hop and neo-soul producers seeking jazz vocabulary without compromising contemporary sound design expectations. It appeals specifically to engineers comfortable with sample manipulation and MIDI editing, as the expansion rewards active production work over passive browsing. For workflow-conscious producers working across genre boundaries, the collection provides a cohesive sonic voice without sacrificing flexibility.
