About this plugin
Native Instruments' Soul Gold expansion delivers a focused toolkit for producers seeking authentic vintage soul textures with contemporary production flexibility. The library centers on 160 vocal loops extracted from classic soul recordings of the 1960s and 70s, spanning lead lines, harmonies, and hook arrangements that capture the melodic sophistication and emotional weight characteristic of that era.
What distinguishes Soul Gold from straightforward sample packs is its integration with the Leap performance engine, which provides real-time manipulation capabilities. Users can transpose and time-stretch material without quality degradation, slice loops into constituent phrases for rearrangement, and apply rhythmic effects that preserve the harmonic integrity of vocals while introducing modern textural interventions. This approach sidesteps the rigidity of traditional sample libraries while avoiding the uncanny artifacts that plague aggressive pitch processing.

The sonic character leans toward warmth and presence rather than clinical fidelity. Loops retain microphone proximity, breath textures, and analog compression characteristics that ground modern production in human performance. This makes Soul Gold particularly valuable for producers working in neo-soul, contemporary R&B, hip-hop, and electronic music where vintage vocal authenticity functions as a production anchor point.
At 160 MB, the expansion demands minimal storage while delivering genuine utility. It occupies a practical middle ground - more curated than generic vocal packs, yet more flexible than locked-in acapellas. For engineers seeking to establish soul-derived aesthetic without extensive session time spent sourcing and processing reference material, Soul Gold delivers immediate, usable source material with enough malleability to integrate seamlessly into diverse production contexts.
