About this plugin
Native Instruments' Action Suite bundles three specialized cinematic instruments designed around phrase-based composition rather than traditional sample playback. The collection pairs orchestral breadth with a workflow centered on curated, performance-captured articulations that can be layered and time-stretched without degradation.
Action Woodwinds delivers dual ensemble configurations (high and low registers) built from mic-captured woodwind sections. The engine accommodates over 1000 pre-constructed phrases that function as compositional building blocks, allowing rapid assembly of coherent wind writing without manual articulation switching. Action Strings 2 extends this approach across string textures, offering multi-mic perspectives for mixing intimacy or distance into arrangements. Its phrase library exceeds 1370 options, emphasizing legato transitions and dynamic swells captured across multiple velocity layers. Action Strikes focuses the system on orchestral percussion, providing rhythmic and textural elements with real-time modulation capabilities for drama and impact control.

The suite's strength lies in its hybrid methodology: phrases provide genuine compositional shortcuts while remaining editable for timing, transposition, and blending. This positions it between rigid loop libraries and blank-canvas sample instruments, appealing to composers working under deadline pressure who still demand customization.
The sonic character reflects Native Instruments' professional recording approach - detailed but clean, without excessive room tone or character coloration. This neutrality suits film scoring and game audio, where clarity and clarity across playback systems matter. The collection competes alongside Spitfire Audio's Albion series and EastWest's Opus offerings, distinguishing itself through phrase integration depth rather than articulation comprehensiveness.
